In one of the Big Four accounting firms on November 2010, twelve male senior-level executives were accused of inappropriate conduct with regard to the company’s recently hired female personnel. These executives were circulating an email rating the “top ten” new female trainees on their appearance. The email contained a picture and information of each of the female trainees. The firm was sued few years ago for sexual harassment in an unrelated incident.
I believe that this kind of behavior should not be tolerated at any level. These executives should’ve been fired, particularly after the unrelated incident that happened few years ago. For me this is a form of sexual harassment, it’s not fair or appropriate to create this kind of environment for the new staff.
This Company Human Resources Office will have to create a strict policy about sexual harassment with zero tolerance. This policy will have to be obeyed and enforced by all the executives in all levels and the whole staff. This policy will create a good working environment for the company’s workforce. Also I think that the president of the company should write a letter apologizing to the staff affected by this incident. I believe that this action will show the company that the president is aware of the situation and working to stop these incidents to occur.
Overall I believe that the company should fire the executives, implement the zero tolerance policy and have the president write that letter will help the morale of the company and it will do much better in the future.
