History
In the early 1960s, Peter and Guy Sordoillet, Jean Jacques Ragageot and Moll, supported by furniture dealers in the north and a manufacturer of Bordeaux, created the "crossroads of the furniture" by testing a discount formula in the outbuildings of an old farmhouse on the outskirts Delyon. Starting with eight independent stores, in 1967, a first Conforama is open to Saint-Priest, Lyon in an industrial building of 2500 m2.
Steinhoff International Holdings Ltd., Africa’s largest furniture maker, said it agreed to buy PPR SA’s Conforama chain for 1.207 billion euros ($1.66 billion) in cash to strengthen its position in Europe.
