HENKEL BUSINESS STUDY CASE CHALLENGE:

They participated in the Challenge conducted by Henkel located at Germany which is the leading company for sustainable development of products and is a leading solution provider for adhesives, sealants and functional coatings.

The Business challenge was to provide a sustainable idea of a product design that could be useful at the time of 2050 and give a prototype model with a full business case study. 6000 students participated from all over the world, 27 countries wherein 18 teams were in the finals held at shanghai, china. The courage and the bravery on his part started with the zeal to compete with the others at the National level , wherein top B-schools participated (from IIM’S to ISB’s) with the professionals having a solid background and experience and they were only final year students having engineering background.

Not only did they participate in the competition they won the Nationals beating the top B-Schools and represented India at the finale at shanghai, China. Their asset he said was the idea and the prototype they created, but again after they won they did not know they will face difficulties at the International grounds.

At the Mega event they couldn’t make it up to the top 6 teams because where they lagged was they did not had the insight business knowledge and they were participating with the best professionals around. But he said that you can take your failure in two ways, either you crib for your failure or you take it in a positive stride and learn from your mistakes. So this was the point where the most courage was needed he said. He motivated himself and his team partner to use that platform and build networks and talk to people about their flaws.

Talking to the best professionals they realised that their prototype was liked by all and they were called the next day for their prototype modelling and execution and were offered one year internship at Shanghai to work on the same project. This is where he told, was a turnover point in his life because although he was not being able to win the competition but was able to create a niche for himself and grab the best possible summer internship opportunity.

 

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN

After graduation, he was offered job at TCS and Infosys (campus selection) and he cracked SSB all the rounds and was offered a post as officer. There lied the important decision to be made in his life. He always wanted his own start up, for which he required experience in that area. He wanted his ideas to flow and take into a form where he could work upon. So instead of taking a job at IT and confining himself at the coder job or pushing himself from the role of a officer, it was a courageous decision on his part to take a job at a start-up meanwhile, structuring his own start up idea and not choose the path which he did not want to.
