SECTION I. GENERAL
A. Purpose
This CPSOP prescribes guidance for the conduct of command post operations during experimentation. Specifically, it standardizes those recurring operational routines, procedures, and responsibilities executed by both organic and supporting organizational elements throughout the division supporting the designated experiment.
B. Application/Scope
This CPSOP covers only wartime operations post Line of Departure (LD). This CPSOP is the division’s “go to war book” and reflects those routine command post procedures proven effective during previous experimentation events. This CPSOP does not repeat doctrine, tactics, or techniques that are provided in FMs, TMs, and MTPs. It applies to all subordinate and supporting community of practice (CoP) organizations supporting the experiment. All CPSOP provisions apply as written except as modified by operations orders and plans or verbal instructions from the division commander. No provision contained within this CPSOP shall ever replace good leader judgment and tactical common sense.
C. Directed Supporting Documents
1. This CPSOP incorporates the best practices of division level experimentation operations and lessons learned.
2. Each subordinate organization should develop and implement a nested CP SOP which will govern procedures for their respective player cells and/or command posts in an experimentation environment. Subordinate SOPs should be developed to complement the division command post SOP.
D. Proponency
The BCBL-L Experimentation Branch is the primary proponent for this CPSOP. Ensuring compliance with established command post standing operating procedures is a leader responsibility which all BCBL-L members must constantly monitor.
E. Changes
1. Recommended changes to the division CPSOP are submitted to the BCBL-L Experimentation Branch Chief.
2. The Experimentation Branch Chief will review requested changes to ensure adequacy of the change.
3. The Deputy Director, BCBL-L is the final approval authority to all changes to the CPSOP.
