Critical and Contempary Issues: Krispy Kremes
Introduction
Bowdin et al (2006, p3 ) states “Todays events are central to our culture as perhaps never before. Increases in leisure time and discretionary spending have led to a proliferation of public events, celebrations and entertainment.” Events can also vary in the size and function and are aimed can be categorised into a number of sectors. Events can also be illustrated as something that happens, this can be and item on a program, or the program itself, according to Betteridge (1997); events management is concerned with the control of an organisations systems, resources, information and people.
This report sets out to evaluate the Preplanning, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation of an event that was created to provide awareness for the Volunteer Service Overseas (V.S.O). The event was hosted by a number of students from the Events and Venues Management. This report will be based around the Watt theory (1998) which Identifies 14 key steps to a successful event these are as stated below: Need analysis, Clarifying and establishing the event aims and objectives Feasibility Planning and time schedule ,Finance and required approvals Launch of the event into the public area ,establish operating structures and key personnel pre-planning and establishing control mechanisms, trained and efficient workforce ,publicise the event, checking all arrangements, carry out the event as per plan and contingency plan review, evaluate and finalise accounts ,prepare a detailed report. By following the Watt Theory eventually providing a report on the event will help in making recommendations as to how the event could be improved should it be implemented again.
