Case Analysis

The Dinteman Company is a business that manufactures industrial machinery and equipment with other production departments. ‘The company employs automated and heavy equipment in its production departments” (Axia, 2014).  Dinteman Company has a department that repairs and services this equipment. Unfortunately there seems to be a problem with communicating and efficiency between the R&M and production department. This problem is causing cost to go higher to the company. A new system needs to be put into play to eliminate these high cost.

Data Items

Data is a gathering of facts and statistics that are collected for an analysis or a reference. The data that is for the R&M department are the amount of services, the cost to complete these services, the number of service request, and the time estimated for the service that is completed. The production department’s data is somewhat the same with just a little difference. They require the data afterwards. They require the hours it took to complete the job and the cost of all the parts.

Work Order Distribution

There is an initiation done by the production department for certain requests. They keep a copy for themselves and also send one to R&M. R&M will than come up with their pricing and send that to the production department. The production department needs to decide whether to accept their estimate or decline it. They then send their decision to R&M. If they approve it then the R&M will come up with a job schedule and a work order. If it happens they deny it than R&M will just adjust the request services. After the job is complete, than everything is finalized by adding the supplies, the labor, the materials that were needed for the job. There are copies made for both parties in every transaction. Every department can see the information on the work being done.
