Domestic and International Extremist Organizations
In the United States the threat and act of terrorism has stolen American peace of mind and safety. Terrorism is a problem that is global and the main target of these terrorist organizations is the United States. In this country there are both domestic and international terrorist threats that occur leaving the U.S. government in a dilemma and the need to work with different law enforcements agencies to find measures that will guard against and prevent these different types of threats. The anti-terrorist and law enforcement agencies have the responsibility of ensuring that every terrorist threat, domestic and international are defused.
The scope of terrorism has been continually changing over the years and with terrorist organizations such as Isis, Al-Qaeda, and other groups it is putting the United States on high alert for possible terrorists and terrorist threats. There is an abundance of concern and pressure put on aviation security because this is how the organizations are coming in and out of the country and also the way that can cause the most damage to lots of people. The United States has concerns over a “range of moderate and small scale threats from a small, but persistent number of transnationally-oriented groups, including al-Qaeda and some of its affiliates and allies. These groups remain intent on striking the United States and are content to patiently develop their access and operational plans over multiple years” (Rasmussen, 2015).
The threat of domestic terrorism has become an expanding threat to intelligence agencies. Terrorist that play an important part in the devastation of wealth and peace in the United States are the violent extremists that are homegrown and this is why the need for this nation to put strict preventative measures in place. The most likely and immediate threat to the Homeland will come from Homegrown Violent Extremists or individuals with loose affiliation to terrorist groups overseas (Rasmussen, 2015).
There are many terrorist organizations that pose a serious threat to the United States, including the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) which is a Salafi jihadist militant group, along with other domestic and international terrorist organizations. The rise of ISIL during the past year and its adept exploitation of the media attention generated by the group’s actions has created unprecedented opportunities for the group to reach potential recruits or influence those inspired by the group’s message
