My explanation that I made on my new promotion as Food Service Assistant Manager and also concerning my career which I am proud on furthering my Education with AIU. I was promoted from GPX Representative to Food Service Assistant Mgr in 2000 which was a big leap in my career. I did not have a lot of experience but had enough knowledge to get the promotion and the ability to adapt to change. To make a long story short as time went alone I was able to feel at ease and interact with my employees some took me serious and some did not. So the ones that did not take me serious I had problems with them completing their tasks that I would ask them to do before leaving work or finishing before the week was out. So I had to rethink my management skills and do some research to have the power to change on how they thought of me and how to relate to me face to face. I had to take full control over the process.
My tradeoffs I had to face were I had to increase my chances of career advancement, accrue new skills. I had to be willing to change or relocate locations for best opportunities, had to learn how to demonstrate capability of handling responsibility so I had choices and trade-offs when I took the position as Food Service Assistant Manager.
My list of Alternatives are as follows which I know my position has a lot of expectations I had to have different skills in my position good Oral communication, written communications skills, technical skills and leadership skills which has improved.
I feel the highest valued alternative would be the guidelines that I offered and provided my employees Interpersonal Treatment as an Assistant Manager which I had to have mutual trust and respect for my employee’s ideas and considerations of their feelings.
