Evolution is the cause of debate time and time again, the fight between whether a higher power created us or just a simple star explosion. Now to look further into such a never ending debate, Dr. Leon C. Megginson a professor at Louisiana State University stated that: “According to Darwin’s Origin of Species, it is not the most intellectual of the species that survives; it is not the strongest that survives; but the species that survives is the one that is able best to adapt and adjust to the changing environment in which it finds itself.” (Target Management. 2011). Megginson looked into the work of Charles Darwin and found that this is what Darwin was saying.
A way to prove that this ideology of evolution is correct is the study and research on the difference over time in the whale. There have been fossils found of whales with four legs, and this shows us that if the world was just created in the blink of an eye how did animals that no longer live have fossils on the earth. This is a huge finding in showing that evolution has a standing point; whales have still evolved into their environment each whale is perfect molded to fit their environment, like the blowhole for instance had been said to have been adapted because of all the hunting prehistoric whales did in the water. “…genetic changes resulted in at least one whale having its nostrils placed farther back on its head. Those animals with this adaptation would have been better suited to a marine lifestyle, since they would not have had to completely surface to breathe.” (Than. 2015). The example I am using for this quote is the whale because the animal adapted over time to hunt in the best way possible, or so Darwin said, the whale grew flippers, its back legs converted into a strong large tail and the nostrils converted into one large blowhole on the back of the animals head. These changed allowed the animal to thrive and continue to hunt and even procreate and live throughout time. This shows us that Darwin’s theory may have been correct by showing us that the animal best able to adapt is the one that does the changing.
