In this time of financial crisis when billions of dollars are being ‘forked-out’ to support our struggling banks we feel it’s time to discover the financial interests and values of Western Australia’s ‘leading light’ of Religion; Catholicism. As atheists we’ve always wondered how much money The Catholic Church of Western Australia keeps hidden away from public view in an era of increasing corporate regulation.
The film opens with a haunting musical credit sequence followed by a voice over introduction to the title and aim of our documentary. The narrator gives a brief overview of the issues that will be addressed in the film, why they are being focused on and what we hope to achieve in doing so. As the credits end the image of the church choir is focused on and then zoomed in on for a close-up of the centerpiece of the church, the cross. The narrator then moves onto the first interviewee.
