Is The Majority of Crime in our Society Violent in Nature? This is a question that can have a lot of different viewpoints as everyone has a different opinion on what constitutes a violent crime. In a lot of ways a violent crime would be a crime against another person that could potentially cause harm. There is a lot of evidence that suggests that violent crimes are on the rise so that would imply that the majority of crime in our society is in fact violent in nature. But there are also a lot of criminal activities being committed that are in fact not of a Violent Nature. So My Question is Do Violent Crimes really take up the Majority of Crime in our Society.
Fear of Violent crime is greater today than in the past. Due to the increase in reporting of such crime by both the victims and via news media that seems to report on the most violent of crimes more than any others. Even though violent crimes were much higher in the 19th century than they are today. It is rather a difficult task to get the actual data as not all incidences of certain crimes are reported to police so the statisitics that you would find in a police data would not always reflect the actual numbers. I am under the full understanding that fear of a violent crime can sometimes do more damage than being involved someway in the crime i'tself.
