Around the time period 1850-1914, there were many presidents elected and many important events occurred. In the year 1860, Abraham Lincoln was elected the sixteenth president of the United States. Lincoln's greatest accomplishment was abolishing slavery in the Northern States. One of America's famous battles was the Civil War. The Civil War was a brutal battle between the North and South. A turning point of America's history was the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth. America suffered a great loss at the death of Abraham Lincoln.
In the 1800's there were many great authors whose incredible works widely affected America. One of the great authors in this time period was Fredrick Douglass. The North Star was one of his greatest works. Harriet Stowe was another great author in the 1850's. Stowe wrote the amazing piece of literature, Uncle Tom's Cabin. Abraham Lincoln, America's President was even famous for his Gettysburg Address. All of these works of literature were not only great but reflected the time period as well.
Many time periods are reflected by many pieces of literature. One of these great authors was Fredrick Douglass. The North Star was the first newspaper published by the blacks. Another great piece of writing is Harriet Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin was a compelling story about a Kentucky farmer and his maid Eliza. Abraham Lincolns Gettysburg Address is an incredible speech about the civil war and slavery.
