INTRODUCTION
With the recent controversy of the chick Fil-A saga, Marriages and relationships is intricate, divisive, and controversial. Meanwhile, relationships are not healthy now days because it lacks trust, honesty, support, equality, communication, which has led to many speculating if couples are dating long enough. Dating, relationships can be a fun and exciting part of your life; they can also be confusing, especially if dating is new to you and both have a lot of differences. Once you know that the person that you like also likes you, you may not know what to do next.
Tina Mugambi (1990) argued that a combination of economic status, denominations, and principles/values explains why relationships/dating are not working out. While dating; women are more likely thinking long term, and men are more likely thinking short term. These differences are then magnified by systems, responsibilities, and assumptions of their cultures: 1) that expect men to be financial stable and women to be housewives; 2) that encourage women to be needy and men to be self-sufficient: Saying that, Mugambi then explain that many people who are dating, are assuming that because they're dating someone, that they want a relationship from them, and that it is going to turn into a relationship. (1990, p.46)
Your job when you date, aside from hopefully enjoying yourselves, is to work out what and who you dealing with before you make a commitment to have an exclusive relationship and before you feel safe enough to put both feet in and invest yourselves.
Each of us enters into relationships with high expectations and thoughts about how we want our relationships to work based off what we've seen on T.V (reality shows), and our own previous relationship experiences. Holding on to lofty dreams and high expectations can be one many reasons why relationships are unproductive and can ultimately fail.
Meanwhile, a successful marriage is supported by a long term dating, and a healthy relationship. Marriage consists of legal contract between people called spouses that create kinship. Some skills needed to build a healthy marriage understand of the soul mate concept, making decisions together, dealing with conflict, and marriage myths and expectations. Furthermore in this paper I will discuss the three important factors in marriage and relationships and break down on why it can make the relationship or break the relationship.
