My Move-In Process

My move-in process was completely unacceptable. I've never experienced anything like it and I've lived in many apartments. Upon my move-in date, I assumed I would just be picking up keys so my movers can bring in furniture etc. But I was completely wrong. When I went to pick up keys, I was unable to. I was told, that some of my information in my file was not there and it didn't show I made enough money. I was completely confused because I paid the deposit of $250 about 2 months in advance. I also signed my lease a couple of weeks prior to move in.

So, I didn't understand why this would happen the day I plan to only pick up keys. At this moment I began to panic, because I had already moved out of my apartments and had movers waiting in the parking lot to move in my stuff. I just didn’t understand why all this paperwork wasn’t done until the day I move in. My information was given to Assistant Manger months before, and she told me she had everything under control. I believe apartment complexes process information way before actual move in date, so the new tenants move would be a easy process. Yet I just find it hard to believe, that I can sign my lease and pay deposit months in advance but not move in the day that was arranged. I then had to add my brother to my lease and I had to drive to my brother to deliver an application. Once I brought that back, they then asked for check stubs from him and I both. This began to get stressful because this was the weekend of Labor Day. My brother didn’t have any check stubs on him, so the Assistant manager then had to verify employment. I arrived at the Leasing office around 2:00 and I didn't get my keys until 545. This was completely unacceptable, I do not wish for anyone to have the move-in experience I had. Lastly, since I’ve been in my apartment, the building is invested with wild cats. I would say about 10. They are all around the dumpster, and around this big truck that has not moved
