The apparel and garment industry in US has continued to grow in the midst of a recovering economy. The trend of globalization has also bolstered its growth in the fashion industry and thereby accounted for a greater potential for the Pashmina to flourish there. Other reasons for our choosing America are; With the sales from net export contributing to a significant chunk of the country's revenues, it is a sector that cannot be overlooked. However, the domestic sector has not been conducive for the sale and distribution of Pashminas. Lack of proper marketing and awareness about the product has made it an unutilized entity in the domestic scene. Increasing exports of Pashmina to countries like US, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, etc has ensured a sustainable and steady growth for the product. This solitary encouragement for the entire industry is a cause enough for companies to opt for international expansion. RATIONAL FOR TAKING THE PROJECT Of the many reasons for our selecting ‘Pashmina', the most compelling one is probably the tremendous potential it has in the global scene. Adding to that, the fact that it has underachieved in both global and local perspective, begs for an analysis of the issue. There are probably very few Nepalese businesses that have the potential to prosper internationally and compete for sustenance. The ‘Pashmina' industry, we have identified, qualifies as one. OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY • For a particular company in consideration, we hope to identify possible sectors for the product's growth and areas where it can flourish. • We seek to perform a thorough analysis of the product, its current standing in the local and international market, efforts that have been made for its promotion and results achieved so far. • We also, through our analysis, aim to assess the potential global market for the product, its demand , where such demands exist and how to meet the expected demand, optimum amount of production, quality control procedure and feasibility for expansion of the product in selected international regions. SCOPE OF THE STUDY The project will mainly revolve around our analysis of the company, whether or not its operations are optimized, feasibility analysis and possibility of expansion into international territories with the product in consideration.
