It is important for the private security industry employees to act professional at all times. They seem to get the bad rap when on duty from the public at times, especially from the younger generation. It is a shame that some will let this job go to their head because then this industry gets a bad rap. In the article, the author wrote about the men who beat a man in front of his wife because he wouldn't show them his ID. This is not how the police would take care of this type of incident and this is one reason I feel that security should not be able to practice the same way as police officers. The police are trained for these types of situations and they know how to speak to someone and most likely would have known just what to say to that individual and diffuse the situation as this would have never happened. Negative things like this only make things worse for everyone including the local police. We aren't supposed to be afraid of police, but know that they are there to help us and keep the public safe. Police take training and spend hours upon hours training to work in this field and I think that if you are in security, your there to guard something. If you're in the police force, then they are the ones that should carry the weapon they were trained to use if they have to and so on. I don't know if one can improve an image once it's tarnished. I think if someone wants to act like an officer of the law, then they should have to go through the same training as an office of the law.
