Research Guidelines

Introduction:

The condom, of which exist both a male and a female type, has a dual function. It is a barrier method of contraception; it is also the most efficacious available means for reducing the risk of transmission of agents of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV. Male condoms are made of latex, polyurethane, or synthetic elastomers. On the contrary, the female condom, which is available under various trade names, is made only of polyurethane. Condoms have gained more importance for preventing the spread of AIDS. Yet, a large section of the population, ignoring the risk of STI-transmission, still has unprotected sexual intercourse.

In every society, people have their own moral, religious and ethnic doctrines that have not only reinforced their social fabrics but, due to prolonged observance in the community, also have pervaded the psychosocial environment of the individual.

Several factors are associated with non-use of a condom during sexual intercourse. In many communities, moral values, ethnic and religious factors also played a role. Among other social factors, gender inequality, lack of a dialogue among partners with regard to condom use, and the stigma attached to the condom could all lead to unprotected sexual intercourse. Factors like embarrassment during purchasing of condoms, lack of discussion with parents, gender initiation, awareness about condoms, usage, etc also play a role.

Hypothesis:

Null hypothesis – Indians are more conservative towards the use or even talking about condoms.

Research Design:

Methods Of Data Collection: The data has collected by way of primary research.

Primary Data: Primary data are those, which are collected for the first time, and they are original in character. A suitable combination of Questionnaire techniques & discussion with the respondents was used to collect the required Primary data. Primary data gives higher accuracy and facts, which is very helpful for any research and its findings. We have conducted a survey across India and US with over 80 responses collectively from both the regions.
