It was set up in 1976 by Sharat Kumar Sahoo who was the sole Promoter from Cuttack who started with Rs.5000 and presently, the turnover has gone upto Rs 70 crores. It is a partnership based firm which is mainly known for its manufacturing of Spices & Pasta. Its diversification and expansion in a very steady way has made it the most popular spices company in Orissa and outside Orissa also. Its story from raw material to packaging has got its own unique way to carry out the operations inside the factory.
STORY OF FACTORY LAYOUT
The factory is set up in Cuttack mainly because of the main reason that the promoter himself was from Cuttack only. He did not want to setup the factory elsewhere as it may become difficult for him to carry out his business in a proper way. He stared the factory with just Rs 5000 and now its turnover has gone up to Rs 70 crores. He made this small scale industry into a big one just because of the following main factors:
Location : Situated in the industrial estate, Khapuria.
Labourforce: Cheap and easily available in that particular area.
Road: It made transportation easier.
Electricity: Power cut is minimum in the area as GRIDCO supplies the power.
Water: Ample amount of water. No shortage.
Streetlight: It makes the transportation from and to factory easier.
Layout: It is situated very nearer to the market.
STORY OF RAW MATERIAL
Turmeric: It is supplied from Phulwani.
Chilli: It is supplied from Guntur (AP) and Ranchi.
Cumin & Corianders: It is supplied from Rajasthan & Gujarat.
Auxiliary materials: Like Dalchilli, Cloves, Cardemom are supplied from Kerela and local areas also.
Dehydrated Garlic, Ginger and Onion: These are supplied from Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.
Sugar & Salt: These are taken from local market in bulk form.
Transportation: Mainly these are all supplied by road transportation.
