The business world is becoming interconnected and global. This course will acquaint you to the International Business World; its rules, organizations, culture and theories, and help you understand the nature and the scope of the international business environment so that you can be a successful global leader in any area you will work.

Even if you pursue a career within the Turkish market, all local businesses (even the smallest local businesses) are affected by the global environment. A general knowledge on international business environment will help enable you make an informed choice on the career path you will pursue, whatever that be, ranging from military, government, NGO work to joining multinational companies, engaging in entrepreneurial activities.

Student Learning Objectives

After finishing this course, you should have gained an understanding of the global business environment at various levels.

· At the national level, you will be able to: describe different political, economic, and legal environments, recognize the determinants of culture and distinguish between national cultural dimensions, and identify ethical issues in international business as well as develop recommendations for handling such issues.

· At the cross-border level, you will be able to: differentiate between different types of regional integration, and describe how governments influence the trade environment.

· At the firm level, you will be able to: describe each component of the strategic decision-making process of firms considering internationalization, explain different entry modes as well as their advantages and disadvantages, and discuss key international organizational and human resource management issues facing multinational companies.
