Tears of a Tiger

Tears of a tiger is about four high school boys Robbie, Andy, Tyrone, and B.J. They just had an important basketball game. They decided to get together and go celebrate their victory. They start drinking, expect for B.J who has never drunk in his life. They were in a car Andy the main character is driving with Robbie his best friend and captain of the Hazelwood Basketball Team in the passenger seat, and B.J and Tyrone in the back. While driving they heard honking, but just laughed because of the alcohol. All of a sudden their was a wall in front of them and it was too late. They hit he wall head on. Three of the boys get out, but Robbie he is pinned inside of the car, his feet straight threw the windshield. Two of the boys rush to help Robbie but as soon as they jump on the hood they are thrown off after a loud noise. The gas tank explodes with Robbie burning alive inside. The boys can hear Robbie crying out "Oh God, please don't let me die like this! Andy!..." After this Andy just can't stop blaming himself, everyone that was effected by the crash deals with it in there own way. The story also shows how Tyrone and B.J, the other boys in the crash are able to move on. Tyrone by a relationship with his girlfriend Rhonda who is very supportive of him, and B.J. from finding god, but they weren't the ones that were driving and there guilt is nothing compared to Andy's. Andy isn't the same after the death and it is obvious to his friends and family. He was once a star basketball player and now struggles just to stay on the team. He hides in his house most of the time and doesn't like going to school only to hear other kids talk about him. His parents try to help by getting him a counselor to help him deal with some of his problems. It takes him awhile to warm up to his new counselor Dr. Carrothers. Andy's relationship with his doctor shows some of the things a black male faces in a white culture.
