I trust every one of you loves listening stories when you were still a child, for our imagination excites to wander boundlessly to give satisfaction on what’s been transping deep within our minds. Therefore, who among you heard the story entitled ’The Legend of Firefly’ when you were still child?
Thanks to my work, for I able to see those fireflies in great numbers for the very first time in my entire whole life at the Mangrove trees of Iwahig River in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
Choosing this tour at first had got me to expect less, for I thought it was boring. But my inkling had been wrong, for the journey of going there on itself was once in a lifetime experience.
When we were all assembled together at Baywalk in Puerto Princesa, Palawan at 7PM last night, the stand by pump boat brought us to a floating restaurant a few minutes away from the wharf to where our dinner was served. Upon our arrival we were welcomed by the warm greetings of the attendants and lively beatings of the percussion instrument.
Our dinner was in buffet setting. Thus, it got me to eat more, for the foods served on the table were all delicious. I devoured most the steamed Mud Crabs, for they were fatty and delightful.
After almost an hour, we left the floating restaurant and cruise back again nearer to where the mangroves were located. Because the boat that we were riding was a big one, we had to transfer to a smaller pump boat that was already waiting for us because the water on that area was shallow and the river was narrow.
While we were traversing the narrow river going inside, the boat man turned off the light, for fireflies hate lights and they would fly away.
Therefore, the only light that guided us was the illumination of the crescent moon and the sparkling stars above us. My goodness it’s beautiful!
