[pic 1]

Purpose: Demonstrate the ability to create a detailed, formal portfolio website using appropriate web development tools based on a storyboard.

Using your storyboard from Assignment 3, create an electronic portfolio using an appropriate software tool for development. This includes: FrontPage, Expression Web, Nvu (pronounced N-view), KompoZer, SeaMonkey, Adobe GoLive, or Dreamweaver. It does NOT include Word or Publisher or any other software not mentioned above. If you are unsure, please just ask. Remember that this website is an electronic portfolio of your work in this class along with personal information. It should showcase your assignments as well as highlight your professional accomplishments, work experiences, associations, research interests, and other elements you would like to share with potential employers, educators, or business associates.

Tip: Make sure you review Module 5 Course Content material before you start this assignment for tutorials, web design tips, and portfolio development procedures.

  • Create a folder on your desktop titled Portfolio.
  • "Web-Ready" your Assignment 1 -4 files by converting your files to PDF. You should already have a PDF file for your Assignment 3 storyboard.
  • You only have to PDF the 10 page+ final merged file from Assignment 1.
  • You can get a free PDF addin from Microsoft. Go to help in any of the office 2007 products and type in PDF. It will tell you how to download that add-in. DO NOT INCLUDE SPACES, FUNKY CHARACTERS, OR CAPITAL LETTERS WHEN NAMING YOUR FILES AND FOLDERS!
  • If you are using Office 2003, you can also download a free PDF converter from http://www.pdf995.com/download.html You download both files and then double click on the driver one first (the smaller file). Then double-click on the larger file to complete the installation. Whenever you open up a document you want to make PDF, just click on Print and you will see a new "printer" called PDF995. It will prompt you for a place to save it and instantly you have a PDF file.
  • Place your PDF Assignment files (1-4) into your Portfolio folder.
  • Save all future graphics you use for this assignment in your Portfolio folder. DO THIS BEFORE YOU LINK THEM OR THEY WILL NOT SHOW UP ONCE YOU SUBMIT YOUR ASSIGNMENT!
  • Save all graphics in either GIF or JPG format.
  • Use a graphic tool to reduce file size to about 50KB or less before inserting them.
  • Save all future HTML files you create in your Portfolio folder.

  • One page will be your home page or index/default page. Another page will be your assignments for this course (Save this as lastnameassign.htm). Remember these are pages that are highlighting your professional accomplishments, associations, work experiences, research interests, and other elements you would like to share with potential employers, educators, or business associates. *Note - these pages must contain the actual text/info, not just contain a link to it. For example, if you create a resume webpage, you must have the resume text ON THE PAGE, not just have a link to a word or PDF document with your resume info.
