Wind mills in Ithaca, Mi have been up for close to two years now. There have been many questions like, " How much do they cost to set up?", " How big are they?", and also, " What are the long time affects of them, Will we ever be able to get the money back from them?"
Each Wind mill near Ithaca, Mi costs around one million dollars. Some farmers around Ithaca voted against them because they thought that it would be a waste of space and also money. Yet, the cost of energy has decreased because the wind farm is generating energy.
Another frequently asked question is how big are those windmills? The windmills in Ithaca, Mi are 400 feet tall from the ground to the tip of the highest point of the blade. I think that is huge! These windmills make the treelines look like dwarfs. Before Ithaca put all of the windmills up, people thought they would become eyesores. They are actually cool to be able to see from your window, they aren't a eyesore anymore than a telephone pole would be.
The last question is "Will we ever be able to make payback from these windmills?" I think we would be able to. It may have been millions of dollars for these to be put up but with the energy we get off from each windmill we can expect a payback in less than 2 years. So with all this money we put into these windmills in Ithaca, we are both making payback of the money used and helping the economy with less energy.
