Am - a Short Film Evaluation

"AM"

In terms of the elements of the film, "AM" has it all. It is an example of a short yet a good story behind its time of presentation. I understand what the film wants to tell to its audience.

The story effectively used its physical, dramatic and psychological sound. How? Even with a short running time of the film or physical time of the film, the thought was conveyed clear. The span of time that is used in the events in the story is just enough to show what is happening and the after the film, my impression towards the time of presentation is "it's good and it's complete".

The space is appropriate with the scenes in the film. From the title of the film "AM", the dark place where the scene was taken is the right one for every event that happened in the story. The visual effect like the zooming of camera to the actor's face is good. This emphasizes the actor's role in the film. Also, the use of flashback to the actor's thought is effective. There is no complicated production design and costumes in the film.

For me, the story behind the film is conveyed clearly even the actor's were speaking in different dialect from what I am using because of the subtitle. The story showed the current issue in the country that is murder and people who are not connected with the crime became suspects because of some things that they did behind the dead body like rubbery.

The last element, sound. This brought the film more exciting to watch. The radio announcer, the background music and the silence gave the film effectiveness in presenting all of the events. The radio announcer that breaks the silence and the silence that brought suspense in the film made it good to watch. I myself, find sound the most effective element that is used in this film. For me, without this, the story will not bring any audience
