Music in the Making
From the prehistoric stone age all the way to the present day, music takes up a major aspect of our daily lives. New music is being created each and every day with new bands and artists appearing out of the blue. With all the opportunities offered to these musically talented people, the new band Grizfolk is taking a chance to reach for their fame. Kicking off their journey, they had an experience of a lifetime touring with Bastille, having huge inspirations from former bands impacting their lives, and writing great music and more on the way.
Starting off their career with the biggest opportunity given to them, Grizfolk was offered to go on tour with the famous band Bastille. “It was definitely exciting being picked by Bastille to open on their October North American Fall Tour,” says Grizfolk member, Adam Roth, “they are some of the hardest working guys we’ve met.” The band claims to have been inspired by Bastille because of their extreme energy and passion that they bring to the stage.
Not only are they inspired by Bastille, but mostly by the more older bands from all different styles of music. Guitarist Fredrik Eriksson exclaims with much motive, “The Beatles, The Roots, Keith Urban, Justin Vernon and the Beastie Boys are some of our major influences in our music process.” Grizfolk claims to start out their music process by creating a simple beat to some acoustic styling taken from the country genre, then adding some computer-generated production inspired from electronic styling and then mixing them together to create their mentally different style of music they play. “I would say their style of music would have to be alternative mixed with a little bit of indie,” confronts a DC sophomore, Hannah Davis, “their lyrics correspond very well with their music and it is very appealing.”
