“To all you girls that think you’re fat because you’re not a size 0, you’re the beautiful one, it’s a society who’s ugly,” this was said by Norma Jeane Mortenson as you know as Marilyn Monroe. She was a film actress in many movies such as: The Asphalt Jungle, Niagara, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, There’s No Business like Show Business, and The Seven Year Itch (“Marilyn Monroe Biography” 1). Marilyn Monroe was also a pin-up girl because of her body features. She has affected the insecure people in the world with her appearance and her hour glass body figure.
Marilyn Monroe experienced lots of challenging experiences as a child. She never knew who her father was (“Marilyn Monroe Biography” 1). Gladys Baker, Marilyn’s mother, had a mental illness and was placed in a mental institution (“Marilyn Monroe Biography” 2). Monroe then had no parents to look after her, so she was set in foster homes and orphanages (“Marilyn Monroe Biography” 1). Later in her career, Monroe admitted to being sexually assaulted and raped at only eleven years old (“Marilyn Monroe Biography” 1). These experiences weren’t the ones to forget, but they didn’t hold Monroe back from reaching her dreams.
Marilyn Monroe is known for being the “world’s most popular icon of sexual appeal and beauty” (“Marilyn Monroe Biography” 1). She was mostly known for her appealing appearance. Before Monroe listed in the film industry she changed her image by dying her hair from brown to blonde and changing her name from Norma Jeane Mortenson to Marilyn Monroe (“Marilyn Monroe Biography” 1). A couple years later Marilyn Monroe’s films earned more than two hundred million dollars (Marilyn Monroe Biography” 2). Monroe’s image changed as she progressed in becoming known, as all famous stars do.
