Last Year, I had heard about the new MySpace. I heard that it was coming soon and that Justin Timberlake was revamping the Website. When I saw that Justin was going to make the focus on music as a way to bring back the fans, I thought, “Ok, Justin will need some help.” Every music awards ceremony you see on television, you never see an artist leave the stage without thanking their fans. This is because without the fans, there is no success. I’m positive that Justin Timberlake has worked with the best artists of past and present (He was on stage with Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 in 2002). To bring the fans back to MySpace, he will need “Star Power” as described in chapter 7. “Star Power works because celebrities embody cultural meanings.” If MySpace marketers can get Justin and celebrities of all genres of music to give a piece of what a fan would see on their personal websites to MySpace, it would be phenomenal. Imagine the younger teenage Justin Bieber fans being able to hear the hit single from his new album on MySpace before anywhere else. What about Usher promoting on MySpace, a competition for up and coming artists to have their music heard by his record label. Maybe George Strait has some never before heard songs that you can only hear on Myspace: Because “EVERYONE listens to music. Chapter 4 mentions transactional advertising. Fans should receive some sort of reward for looking at the new website. They should be given an opportunity to a secret code to view their favorite artist without being a member to test the new website. In my opinion, because we were so quick to leave MySpace for Facebook, MySpace will only get one chance at peaking interest. Other than hearing about the new MySpace last year, I had not heard anything until now. I believe it is going to be an awesome sight, especially if someone who is an aspiring artist, wants to have their music heard, in High Definition, and can use MySpace as an avenue to make that happen.
