Subject: In a poor village there are people who are extremely hungry, and there isn't enough food to give all of them adequate nutrition. Some people are gelling sick due to malnutrition, especially small children and old people. They have some sheep, which could provide enough food, but the sheep are being killed and eaten by a family of five tigers living in the area. These tigers, however, belong to an endangered species, of which there are only 50 left in the world. The villagers have guns and could kill the tigers, but they are not sure whether killing them would be ethical.
• Consider this case from the perspective of utilitarianism. Explain whether, on this view, what the right thing to do is. What is your own view about the matter?
UTILITARIANISM
One of the most important reasons is survival instinct, underlying human behavior. As is known, people are at the top of the ecosystem. In particular, when subject to a survival; the human ecosystem has shown that the summit of the pyramid. However, due to people's unconscious behavior consisting of ecosystem deterioration will compromise the life of all living things on earth. Therefore, to harm living things in nature may reveal the problem instead of solution. The Human up, the survival of other living things in nature is important to the ecosystem. On the other hand, nutrition is the first step in Maslow pyramid. Moreover, nutrition is ensuring the survival the human is one of the most important needs. The villagers who suffer from hunger, their only food supply to protect the sheep; their lives mean the same as visors. We should to look at the contents of utilitarianism, before examining what should be done tigers attacking sheep according to utilitarian.
It is known that utilitarianism is one of the highly discussed moral theories that are generated by Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill in Britain. This moral judgment was based on experience instead of dogma. According to this theory, the aim of this moral theory is to achieve the happiness. If the action ends up with a pleasure, it is good; however, if the actions ends up with a pain or suffer, it is bad. This is the simplest explanation of this moral theory. Happiness calculus is developed by Jeremy Bentham to calculate the consequences of an action in terms of it would be pleasure or pain. According to utilitarian, a behavior is can be good or bad but don't show to us that person's good or bad. In other words, the behavior determining accuracy or the error of measurement isn’t causes the motive behavior, but it is the behavior results. No matter what faith, the result is better in terms of moral behavior that gives rise to the benefits and happiness.
