World Philosophy

Philosophers look for knowledge in the areas of their specialization. Philosophers will than(then) interpret the information that has been discovered to bring a new perspective on theories that already exist. Philosophers will offer evidence that supports or reflects the opposite.(Good start, Jacqueline, but a tad brief. Perhaps refer to a specific Philosopher's theories, such as Socrates, to illustrate your points.)
In today's world philosophy is used as a way of studying the world we live in systematically. As we have obtained new information through science there are questions that were once debated which have changed. Science has been able to answer questions that were once pondered but now our perspective has changed on what questions we ask since science has been able to confirm what we as people were once curious about. For example we no longer have a debate about matter and how atoms are composed in matter but we ask ourselves how the matter came about. (exactly, well put. good use of a specific example.)
For modern philosophers that are influential in today's world I would have to say Peter Singer,he holds a special place in my heart (agreed!)because of his work with (other) animals and starting an animal rights movement worldwide. He is considered one of the most influential and famous philosophers of modern time. His most famous book was "Animal Liberation: A New Ethic for Our Treatment of Animals " in 1976.
My idea of knowledge is what we learn to be true or false. It is what we learn about ourselves, the world, all there is in life. It is reflected in our behavior, our thoughts, our interactions. It is truth. (Good start. IS it "truth," even if we learn later on that it was inaccurate?
