Part 1
- The bombing of Hiroshima caused thousands of life or both civilian and soldier. It also stresses the unnecessary move to bomb Hiroshima and the bombing of Nagasaki three days later.
The triumph of the bombing Hiroshima was a necessity to pre-empt the deaths of millions of people from continued battle. Hiroshima was a sentence but Nagasaki was the period to the sentence driving home the need to stop the war.
- Hiroshima as Victimization supports the theory of victimization of the Japanese people and their families. It is tragedy that should never have happened. However, the bombing of Pearl Harbor shouldn’t have happened either.
Hiroshima as a Triumph supports the bombing of Hiroshima as an example of what could happen to the rest of Ja[an and it’s people as well as to other countries. This was the defining moment for WWII and the conclusion. It stopped the death of millions of innocent citizens on all sides of the war.
I agree with Hiroshima as a Triumph because it was known that Japan planned to fight to the last man, woman, and child. I would also say the was evidence of this fact by the clash of fighting Japanese and American soldiers murdered each other.
As for a United Nations memorial, I would choose the second narrative because The United States brought about a faster end to the war with the A-bomb and saved millions of lives in every country. If the United States had not dropped the bomb, there are several areas that would be under Japanese rule instead of America, such as the Mariana Islands and Hawaii.
Part 2
Document A: depicts a planned use of the A-bomb but it also indicates the Federal Government planned to use the bomb to force surrender by the Japanese forces. It depicts victimization because the bomb could have been dropped in Russia instead..
Document B: depicts the scenario of the use of the A-bomb saved millions of lives without having to confront the Japanese over a battlefield. It also re-enforces the ideal of triumph minus mass casualties for American forces.
Document C: depicts Triumph over Russia as well as Japan. The bombing of Japan brought home the severity of losses that Russia would face if the United States dropped the same thing on them. This move caused Russia to realize the jeopardy they were in so they brought their forces home.
