Sam displays a character of a mental disable man who is obsessed with the Beatles and work as janitor at Starburst. Sam has an intellect of seven years old child. He fathers a child with a homeless woman who abandons them after leaving the hospital. Sam names his beautiful daughter Lucy Diamond after a Beatles song. Although Sam doesn't know much about parenting he still manages to raise Lucy with the help of a neighbor who has anxiety disorder, his best friend Robert who has personality disorder and other disable friends. Sam has support system with his friends to help provide Lucy activities of daily living. He has established a microsystem through Bronfenbrenner's Ecological System Theory. Bronfenbrenner's theory of microsystem define as innermost level of environment that consist of activities and the interaction patterns in the person's immediately surroundings (Berk, 2010). Sam physical characteristics was discontinuous but is cognitive development was continuous but limited to his intelligent quotation. His Intelligent quotation was below seventy because of biological development during embryo stages of growth. Although Sam has a disability he tries to raise Lucy to best of his capability. He father abandoned him in his mother as child so he does not let his disability become hindrance of providing and most importantly loving Lucy.

Dawson has the mental capacity of a 7-year-old. He works at a Starbucks and is obsessed with the Beatles. He has a daughter with a homeless woman; she abandons them as soon as they leave the hospital. He names his daughter Lucy Diamond (after the Beatles song), and raises her. But as she reaches age 7 herself, Sam's limitations start to become a problem at school; she's intentionally holding back to avoid looking smarter than him. The authorities take her away, and Sam shames high-priced lawyer Rita Harrison into taking his case pro bono. In the process, he teaches her a great deal
