Personality is made up of characteristic patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that make a person unique in their own way. Personality is created from within a person and somewhat stays consistent throughout one’s life. On the other hand, personality traits can differ due to the impact of nature and nurture. Looking back on my life history I realized that many aspects of my personality have stayed the same while others have changed.

Some of my personality aspect that I believed has changed is my shyness and my self-confidence. Growing up I was always known as the shy girl. Throughout elementary, middle, and high school I was very closed in. If you were not a part of my immediate family, you wouldn’t get much out of me. People were lucky enough to even get a hello out of me. I don’t really know why I was so shy growing up. Could be because I was so used to be around my family that being around other people made me nervous and feel somewhat uncomfortable. It wasn’t until my first year of college when I started to come out of my shell. I believe the change in my environment influenced the change in my shyness. I went from being around my family every day, to only being around my roommate and other college students. I was socializing, meeting new people, and going out more. I was basically living the typical college life. Ever since then I consider myself to be more outgoing.

This ties into my confidence as well. Since I was so shy as a child I had a huge lack of self-confidence. Meaning I didn’t have trust or faith in myself or my abilities. Lacking in self-confidence made me fear challenges. I wasn't able to stand up for what I believed in or have the courage to admit my limitations. As I got older my self-confidence increased tremendously. In order to build my confidence, I had to break the old habits, and develop new productive ones. I had to stop thinking negative and start thinking positive. As a result, I have grown into
