Gay Marriages: What Does God Say?

Times and perceptions have changed across the years when it comes to accepting homosexuality, gay, or lesbianism. Society today has begun to accept and condone the practice and lifestyle of homosexuality. From the beginning of time God never intended women to love other women or men to love other men to the point of sexual desire and or marriage. Homosexuality is a sin and goes against what God intended in the institution of marriage. Homosexuality goes against God's rule, his law, and his commandments and there are consequences. This paper will define homosexuality, define bible, describe sin, connect ethical egoism with homosexuality, identify the secular view of homosexuality, show the secular view of homosexuality according to the bible, prove according to the bible that homosexuality is wrong, then argue since homosexuality is wrong, then therefore gay marriage is wrong, and not instituted as God instituted marriage.

Homosexuality, being gay or lesbian, has been the center of many political, religious, and sociological topics. What actually does it mean to be homosexual, gay, or lesbian? Merriam-Webster defines homosexual as, "(1) of relating to, or characterized by a tendency to direct sexual desire toward another of the same sex and (2) of, relating to or involving sexual intercourse between persons of the same sex." According to avert.org (2003), the term ‘homosexual' was first used by Victorian scientists. They regarded the idea of a same-sex attraction and sexual behavior as symptoms of mental disorders or moral deficiency. In the late fifties and sixties the term ‘gay' was beginning to be used to describe homosexual men and lesbian women because it has a less negative connotation ("Homosexuality," 2003 ). The Catholic Church defines homosexual behavior as acts intended to arouse or stimulate a sexual response regarding a person of the same sex ("Homosexuality," 2004).

Many people in society have given their definition of homosexual. This particular website, http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/homosexuality (2011), defines homosexual as a

"condition of "sexual desire or behavior directed toward a person or persons of one's own sex ("Homosexuality," 2011)." That website considers it a condition, whereas, another website considers it as sexual orientation to persons or sexual activity with another of the same sex (Farlex, 2011). Regardless of the different definitions given; such as a condition, sexual orientation, or sexual activity, it is still a sin in the sight of God. The world can define homosexuality in many ways,
