Testing a Theory

My theory testing is more of life and the way people treat and interact with people of difference, such as body style. The way people treat and interact with people who are obese verse being thin. In my weight loss journey over the last 3 ½ years, I have noticed that people in the work place, men in general, who really do not pay attention to you or your work. People have a tendency to talked down to you, and even may have been over looked for a promotion for being obese. I could see when those people now interacted with me, there body language and there demeanor towards me has change for the better now that I am thinner.

I looked back and think how different those people treated me and how they treat and interact with me was astonishing. I found myself observing and noticing a thin person mainly men interacting with an overweight person. I can now see how they talked down to that person and how their body language demeanor changes, as if that person does not deserve their attention because of their weight. I then watch and noticed how they would interact with a thin person. There demeanor and body language would be more cheery, they would have a smile and laugh, unlike their expression of a stern face with the person who was overweight.

I believe my method of research was as of a psychologist by the way I sat back and observed body language and demeanor as a psychologist would . If given the opportunity, I think I would go back and address the people that I see treating overweight person. Inquire and why, “what makes them any different from a thin person when you are interacting with a person that is overweight?”. If I was to have the nerve to do so, just to kind of find out what their reasoning may be and how they very people of difference. Deterring if it was learned trait or does this happen sub consciously?
