What About Bob

The main character of the Movie What About Bob ,Bob Wiley appears to languish from several mental problems that is shown through his strange behavior at the start of the film. Bob talks to his new therapist, Dr. Marvin about his issues. Dr. Marvin listens to Bob and comes up with a Plan and tells him to use baby steps ( 2013 by Gerri Luce, LCSW ). Here this article talks about how trying small things first be helps them stick while during therapy. As Bob takes his baby steps he regresses when his Dr is not around. This is a defensive mechanism and he reverts back to his childhood self, in this case early childhood where he is dominated by his ID (Psychcentral.com Gillian Fournier, 2013). As the movie goes on, Bob fights with his worries, showing symptoms of phobias that all seem to come from a single source.
As he starts to overcome his issues, the real problem starts to take shape. He subconsciously creates several mental problems and shows the symptoms linked to each imagined one. All these problems stem from the sole fact that he desires and needs the attention of others. Bob took a bus to get to Dr. Marvin’s vacation home in New Hampshire. Which he was very apprehensive over due to him being afraid of getting sick from the public. This is why you see him frequently using a tissue to open touch public things. After a few botched attempts to gather the will power to get on to the bus, Bob finally left on the very last one for that day. He was obviously uncomfortable with his heavy breathing and dry heaving where he says it was just a false alarm. There was nothing wrong, Bob is showing signs of Hypochondriasis (UMM.edu, 2013).
Which falls inline with his states of regression and almost child like mannerisms at times. Soon Bob made it to Dr. Marvin's with the applause of the bus passengers unknowing whether happy for him to arrive or happy that he is finally off their bus. It is not long before Bob Locates Dr. Marvin by yelling his name very loudly. Dr. Marvin explains to Bob that this behavior is not appropriate and Bob goes into regression again, Giving in to Bob ID he agrees to call him at a nearby coffee shop. Waiting at the coffee shop Bob his talking to him self trying to calm himself while he waits for Dr. Marvin to call. The owners of the shop learn who Bob is waiting for and offer to drive him right over. After arriving to Dr. Marvin's vacation home he shows up just as the Dr was about to call him.
This is where Bob meets Dr. Marvin's family. This is Important as they play a huge role. Feeling frustrated Dr. Marvin give Bob a special prescription. He tells Bob that
