There are thousands of gods across religions known for their amazing strength, their physical attributes being a very prominent characteristic. Religious tales tell stories of bravery during war and battles won. However, in today’s day and age, the struggles that surround most people aren’t always of the external nature. The fights fought by people today are often ones that take place inside their own heads. A goddess of mental health helps fills a need that many people face in their lives today.
Thea, the goddess of mental health, has a story of tragic origin. She was orphaned at a young age and the only person who was left in her life was her older brother. When she was growing up, the only thing that kept her will together was the support offered to her by her brother. Even when things looked like they were never going to improve, her brother was by her side to help her. Once she had grown up and ventured out by herself in the world, the only thing she wanted to do was help those around her by providing them with the support that she had received from her brother. The only comfort and happiness that Thea had felt growing up was knowing that her brother was there for her, and she now wanted to be there for everyone else in the world who was not as lucky as she was. Her need and desire to help others was so strong that it turned her into a goddess. As a goddess, Thea was now a beacon of hope for people around the world. Thea is the goddess that people could now look to when they needed support and felt that they had nowhere to turn to.
Thea is a beautiful goddess, however, unlike other goddesses, she is not perfect. When looked at up close, Thea has flaws, something that is uncommon among gods. These flaws that she has keep her from being the traditional definition of perfect but they are much more than just physical imperfections. Each one of the flaws shows her followers that there is much more to life than just being physically perfect. Another of the key defining physical characteristics of Thea is that in all the statues she is holding her hands out towards her followers, as if to reach out to them and hold their hands in her own. This action is depicted in all her statues and pictures is there to show her followers her devotion to them is just as strong as theirs is to her.
