Our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is not only succeed in preaching, leading the state and households but also a successful person in business sector. As a prophet, he was not only respected as a religious leader and head of state during that time but also being respected as a merchant who has a wide range of business network and market share and extensive customers.
Since his childhood, precisely at the age of 12, Prophet Muhammad had been introduced to the business by his uncle, Abu Talib bin Abdul Muthalib, in a journey where he joined a business trip to Syria. At the age of 25, he married to Khadijah binti Khuwailid, a successful business women in Mecca. As time passes, Prophet Muhammad became the owner and manager of Khadijah’s wealth. Merging two wealth through marriage increased the trade owned by Prophet Muhammad and power to control the market share. He then became the business owner.
Muhammad obtained trading experience from his uncle, Abu Talib for several years with petty trade around the Kaabah. .The experience obtained from his uncle for several years became an authorized him when deciding to become young entrepreneurs in Mecca. He pioneered efforts to petty trading in the vicinity of the Kaaba. The name of Muhammad began to be known among business people (investors) in Mecca because of his honesty in running the business. In time, Muhammad began to show his high potential of capability in running the business trade, even the Mecca’s people were attracted to entrust their capital to be managed by Muhammad with the principle of sharing which is Musharakah-Mudharabah and payroll. At this time, Muhammad had switched from business manager to manage his own business whereby he became an investment manager to manage the capital investors.
After prophet Muhammad (PBUH) married to Khadijah, he has more incentive to develop the business through the expedition of business regularly in the trading centers that exist in the Arabian Peninsula, he visited the market-intense regional and international markets for the sake of keeping customers and partners. His trafficking network had reached Yemen, Syria, Busara, Iraq, Jordan, Bahrain and the cities other Arab trade.
At the age of 38, just before the Apostolic of Muhammad ,he was successfully become a regional merchant where trade area include Yemen, Syria, Busra, Iraq, Jordan, Bahrain and the cities of the Arabian Peninsula.
Many people think Prophets as a poor person but on the other hand Prophet Muhammad showed the figure of a successful businessman. Prophet Mohammad himself was the most trustworthy entrepreneur during his times. Undoubtedly, no one can be more truthful and honest than the Messengers of God. Muhammad proved by his living example that he was the most truthful and honest person of his age. Everyone was impressed by his honesty and truthfulness. He was dearly known as Al-Amin (the Faithful) and Al-Siddiq (the Truthful), a very uncommon quality to be found in today's entrepreneurs. In today's context, the Prophet (PBUH) would be recognized as 'the role model' of the Highest Order and awarded with the Highest Entrepreneur Award. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) placed first as the 100 Most Influential People by the author Michael Hart in his book.
