Introduction
"In the 17th chapter of St. Luke it is written, "The kingdom of god is within man", not one man nor a group of men, but in you..." Charlie Chaplin from The Great Dictator
It has been mankind's aspiration throughout the ages to reach out and touch the stars. On the 15th of July in 1969, we took our first steps to doing just that by putting a man on the moon. Never prior to that in all of human history had something so momentous happened. It had been dreamed of for thousands of years, to go to our neighbor in the sky and touch the familiar face of a neighbor far away for so long.
Most of the breakthroughs in science can be described in a similar fashion, from computer science to string-theory physics, all have had monumental research in the last few decades. Cybernetics and Biomedical are no different, touting an impressive assortment of advances themselves. Included in both are Nanotechnology, the implications of its use being that things are affected on a cellular level or microscopic level and include both repair and regeneration in addition to fabrication and a whole plethora of other disciplines anxiously awaiting their first forays into the next generations of nanotechnology.
The advent of these new technologies will allow both biological and technological sciences to lay the foundation for both to bring us the ability to apply immortality to our species. However, technology will get us there faster. In the words of one of my heroes, Dr. Carl Sagan, "Consider the following".
