What do you think causes climate change? Why?

The main cause of climate change is “the opportunistic and greedy human mind”. No matter how developed we have become, the mind is always behind showing its superiority to nature and other living organisms by limitless growth and expansion.

Human mind has been selfishly creating steam engines, burning fossil fuels, creating industrial revolutions, economic situations without keeping in mind the status of its relationship with the planet earth. The key to survival has given rise to problems like global warming, acid rains due to fossil fuels and CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons). It considers nature as the abundant resource and exploits it in the hopes of building a good future. The excessive discharge of chemicals into oceans, pollution caused due to burning of fossil fuels, increase in the amount of carbon dioxide and deforestation are continuously declining the climate, and thereby increasing the overall temperature year by year. This has resulted in melting of huge glaciers causing increase in sea level, this in turn takes the form of floods and untimely hurricanes in the coastal areas. The air quality has become so worse that respiratory problems are prevalent these days mainly in younger generation. Aquatic life is imbalanced due to toxic discharge of side products into oceans. Wetlands and forests have been destroyed in search of more oil, gas and petroleum. Various species of flora and fauna have become endangered due to displacement of their natural habitats. Soil infertility is on the rise due to use of pesticides and fertilizers. Rampant droughts, dried rivers, landslides, land degradation are some of the symptoms of severe climate change. All these aggressive actions of human mind have worsened the climate irreparably.

Despite of knowing the current situation, human mind is still in the race of advancements, ignoring the alarming situation.
