Genetic engineering is indifferent, Genetic engineering has become more and more known to our society, but what is genetic engineering? Genetic engineering is the process of changing genes. Genetic engineering has multiple ways of manipulation, those being: cloning, transgenic organisms, genetically modified foods (GM), and genetic testing. Cloning is taking an organism and duplicating its DNA from a few cells from the organism. Transgenic is a organism that contains genes from other species. Genetically modified crops are bioengineered plants. Genetic testing is a type of medical test that identifies changes in chromosomes, genes, or proteins. The results of a genetic test can confirm or rule out a suspected genetic condition or help determine a person's chance of developing or passing on a genetic disorder. Genetic engineering helps our society by improving our food supply, medicine, and research on animals and plants by cloning.

Genetic engineering does a lot to help our society, there are many positive ways that it does. One being that transgenic animals and plants have increased our food supply. With the help of infusing growth hormones, animals, like cows, are able to grow bigger and stronger. Therefore, cows with infused hormones produce more meat. "Some transgenic livestock now have extra copies of growth hormones genes. Such animals grow faster and produce leaner meat than ordinary animals."(Prentice Hall, Biology. Application of Genetic Engineering, Transgenic Animals (page 332). Transgenic plants have been developed to have certain vitamins to benefit our diet. For example, Rice plants now contain vitamin A, which is essential for our diet and nutrition. Another way is that transgenic plants now have genes that help them live longer. "Many of these plants contain genes that produce a natural insecticide, so the crops don't have to be sprayed with pesticide. Other crop plants have genes enable them to resist weed killing."(Prentice Hall, Biology. Application of Genetic Engineering, Transgenic Plants (page 332).Another pro, is cloning animals .Cloning is taking an organism and duplicating its DNA from a few cells from the organism.Cloning was founded in 199 by Scottish Biologist, Ian Wilmert. His first attempt of cloning was a sheep, well known as Dolly .Cloning allows helps research and expand it. Having a group of animals with the same DNA, helps scientists see if certain products, that they test, do harm these animals or the possible chance of the product harming individuals. Along with research, Scientist have been trying to get animals to produce medicine in their milk. "The main reason that the scientists at Roslin Institute wanted to be able to clone sheep and other large animals was connected with their research aimed at producing medicines in the milk of such animals. Researchers have managed to transfer human genes that produce useful proteins into sheep and cows, so that they can
