For my project I chose to find out what you can use to clean gold coins. For my hypothesis, using hot soapy water is the best solution for cleaning gold coins. Doing research on cleaning gold coins I found out there is only one way you can do it. The first thing you would do is wash the gold coin under running water and holding the coin by the edges you don’t want to touch the surface because it may cause scratches. The higher the water pressures the better. For gold coins, soaking in very hot soapy water is best. Rinse the coin again. After soaking, thoroughly rinse the coin under very warm, running water. If the coin is clean enough for your taste, proceed to drying. Or your next step would be, Pour some Malt Vinegar over that coin and then wash off after ten minutes with a toothbrush. This helps the process and gives the coin some more finish and look. Lightly brush the coin. If dirt remains, lightly scrub the coin with a soft toothbrush and dish soap you want to us a soft or extra-soft one. Do not apply much pressure, and focus on brushing only the soiled area of the coin. Dry the coin. Pat the coin dry with a soft, lint-free cloth, and then lay the coin on a soft, dry cloth to finish drying.
