Intelligent Design
Life is a mystery. For thousands of years, humans have tried to figure out the meaning of life. Some believe the earth was created by God, some believe it was the Big Bang Theory, and others believe it all has to do with a greater power. People who believe God created life are known as creationists. To creationists, the Bible is correct word for word. They believe the Earth was created in seven days and that it’s only 6,000 years old. The ones who believe that the earth and the solar system was created by something very similar to an explosion are called evolutionists. These individuals don’t believe in God or that life was created by Him. They believe that it all happened because of science, or basically by just pure chance. I personally believe that it’s a mixture of both. I believe in God. I was born and raised in the Catholic religion. However, I don’t believe the Bible is 100% correct. Growing up, I was drawn to biology. I love to hunt, fish, and explore the outdoors. As I became older, I started to realize how amazing and complicated our world, and life itself, really is. This earth was created to always balance itself out, and scientists have proved this. However, humans, quite possibly the most complex thing on this earth, have found ways to control Mother Nature.
Over time, humans have climbed to the top of the food chain. We have become the most dominating presence on this earth because of our intelligence. Normally, an animal would adapt to its environment by changing something physically about themselves. We humans on the other hand, change our environment to what we prefer. We have conquered unthinkable odds, and it’s all because of the thing at the top of our body: our brain. The human brain has capabilities that scientists haven’t even discovered yet, even with the technology we have today. The brain is one of the most complex and magnificent organs in the human body. Our brain gives us awareness of ourselves and of our environment, processing a constant stream of sensory data. It controls our muscle movements, the secretions of our glands, and even our breathing and internal temperature. Every creative thought, feeling, and plan is developed by our brain. The brain’s neurons record the memory of every event in our lives. In fact, the human brain is so complicated that it remains an exciting frontier in the study of the body; doctors, psychologists, and scientists are continually endeavoring to learn exactly how the many structures of the brain work together intricately to create our powerful human mind. This is one major reason why I completely disagree with the idea of evolution. Another reason why is because of feelings, or emotions. Scientists still can’t find evidence or a reason why we have emotions. They believe it was to help us survive in the wild, when faced with danger or a threat. Although that makes logical sense for just a few of our emotions, I believe it has a much deeper meaning and purpose we have yet to find out. Love has so much more of an effect on us than just to simply survive. We feel it to live, and live to feel it. And that’s where I believe God comes in.
