Laboratory exercise for Micro CHP
Objective:
The objective of this experiment is to investigate the performance of a Micro CHP plant, and to evaluate some performance parameter of the engine
Introduction:
Small scale CHP system, known as micro-CHP, are packaged unites with comparatively small power outputs, with heat to power ration in the range 2-3. The engines used are industrial oil engines or automotive engines adapted to run on natural. Heat is transferred to water from the engine cooling jacket, from the engine oil cooler, and from the engine exhaust gases; a typical system is shown below
Micro-CHP is a power station which works as a heat engine to provide all the power for a system. The aim of using Micro-CHP in the station is to utilize more of the energy in the fuel. The main output of micro-CHP is heat and electricity at a typical ration of approximately 6/1.
In this experiment a system is connected with Micro-CHP, the system performance is measured with four different load and behavior of the system is measured and investigated.
Safety issues:
No significant human risk has been involved in this experiment.
Apparatus used in the experiment are as follows:
Ears protector.
Lister Patter Diesel Engine
Micro Meter CHP Plant.
Procedure:
The atmospheric pressure was read.
The fuel supply was set to minimum, and 5Kg was hanged on the hanger.
The dynamometer control unite was located.
The water pump was turned on.
‘'Supply v'' rheostat was turned fully anticlockwise.
‘field v'' rheostat was turned fully anticlockwise
‘motor' was selected
‘part' was selected
The field Y rheostat was turned to supply 200 volts to the motor.
The supply Y rheostat was turned slowly to turn the motor.
The valve lever was dropped and the engine start.
The supply Y and field Y rheostat was turned completely anticlockwise.
‘'Load'' was selected
‘full' was
