1. Discuss how the network design of EAC can be both a source of competitive advantage and a major operational weakness.

The competitive advantage is that EAC is being able to serve all the six international locations and has the courier services to do it.
The major operational weakness would be that it has to spend a lot for the courier services as it has 6 manufacturing facilities which are located in China but its market is international.

2. From the perspective of a company bidding for this courier services tender, what questions would you ask EAC?

The questions from viewpoint of the courier service should be,

What is the frequency of deliveries? What are the locations it has to cater? What is the quotation per delivery? What are the special needs of the shipment? and What is the tenure of contract?

3. Develop a framework for tender response evaluation. Which key criteria will you use to assess the responses by various bidders?

Answer:

The team responsible has to assess each bid individually on a case by case basis and ensure that the bidder meets its requirements and remove those which ever do not, Then check which bidders are doing the same work within the stipulated time and regulations, Check what is the bidders history and experience in the field, and make sure it is cost effective.

The key criteria is to select the bidder providing the
Value for Money.

4. From the perspective of a company bidding for this courier services tender, how would you position your tender response? How could you add extra value to this customer if successful in winning the contract?


Answer:


The courier service has to showcase that it meets the clients  minimum requirements and has an excellent record in doing so, it should clear the terms and conditions very clearly, present it in a manner that it is both reasonable and  market competitive.

Extra value can be added by offering to work with them on a long contract that they do not hassle with searching a new bidder every time.

5. What KPls should EAC set up with its new courier services provider?

Answer:

KPIs of the company should be:
Time by which shipment has to reach its destination.
To set a stipulated intervals of the shipment per month.
To deliver the no of satchels as per demand.

6. Discuss what other solutions EAC would consider for resolving the challenges they are facing. In your answer you may consider solutions based on integration options, technology, network optimisation, and so on.
