Exp 1: Observations of Chemical Changes Lab Section:
Data Tables:
Step 1:
Chemicals Well No. Observations of the Reaction
A. NaHCO3 + HCl A1
The reaction showed Clear Bubbles, It was a homogenous reaction and it also smelled like bleach
B. HCl + BTB B1
The reaction turned into an orange kind color, It was a homogenous reaction
C. NH3 + BTB C1
The reaction turned into a dark blue color, It was a homogeneous reaction as the color dark blue never changed
D. HCl + blue dye D1
The reaction turned also into a dark blue color, the blue dye gave a homogenous
E. Blue dye + NaOCl E1
It started as a dark blue color but then the dark color started faiting until it became aqua blue color The reaction also seemed as a homogeneous reaction.
with the 1 drop of HCl
After adding the single drop of HCl the reaction became balck but as time goes on the reation became a grey color also been a homogeneous reaction
F. NaOCl + KI F1
The reaction turned yellow it looked as a homogeneous reaction, after few seconds the color started changing to a brownish color.
with 1 drop of starch
After adding a single drop of starch the reaction starts changing to a very light grey color. It also keeps been a homogeneous reaction.
G. KI + Pb(NO3)2 G1
As the two components start mixing the reaction becomes a yellow texture, also the mixture starts to solidify with time, few solids formed at the bottom of the reaction creating tiny brown pieces indicated a precipitation on the solution
H. NaOH + phenolphthalein H1
The reactions forms a homogeneous pink fuchsia color, its texture and color don’t change after time
I. HCl + phenolphthalein A2
The reaction seems as a homogeneous clear liquid which stays like that after time.
J. NaOH + AgNO3 B2
At first the reaction seemed to be a bold brownbut then it starts to solidify at the bottom of the well creating lighter brown pieces which indicates a precipitation on the solution
K. AgNO3 + NH3 C2
The reaction is a homogeneous clear liquid, no change of
