Pit and Fissure Sealants
Introduction
They described as a material placed in the pits and fissures of susceptible to developing tooth decay by acting as a physical barrier micromechanics tooth bonding preventing access of cariogenic bacteria and their source of nutrients. It is, undoubtedly accepted that the effectiveness of the seals for the prevention of caries depends on its long-term retention. Retention should be evaluated periodically through visual and tactile examination and in situations where you have lost all or part of the seals must be relocated to ensure their effectiveness.
Cost of placing sealants
Normally placing sealants in a dental arch costs less than sealing a decayed tooth. Some dental clinics offer affordable, and most dental insurance companies cover part of the amount of sealants, both to provide the service as that in the medium term will have to spend less on dental care for patients that apply to them sealants. Sealants long term save time and money because when they are placed in a timely fashion of healthy teeth is avoided having to spend on fillings, root canals and prosthetic sleeves to repair decayed teeth.

Prevention
Preventive action of fluoride is more effective on smooth and proximal surfaces in the pits and fissures. These areas represent those of thinner and therefore weaker enamel, while some inaccessible areas are any measures of hygiene, whether individual or professional.
