The sun is a gigantic hot star at the center of our solar system. It provides heat and energy for people and animals to live and plants to grow. Without the sun there would be no life on the Earth of any kind. Since the sun is the center of our solar system all the planets orbit around it. All the planets orbit each other as they orbit around the sun. There are both inner planets and outer planets. The inner planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. The outer planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and finally Neptune. The Earth is tilted on its axis and that is how we get our seasons. As the Earth rotates closer to the sun, the warmer it is where we are located. The farther away we are, the colder it its.
The sun makes up most of our solar system. The suns mass contains mostly hydrogen and helium. It also contains oxygen, carbon, neon, and iron. It was formed about 4.6 billion years ago from a gravitational collapse of a region with molecular clouds. It is brighter then 85% of the stars in the Milky away Galaxy.
Scientists say that the sun will remain to be the main star for about 10 more billion years before it stops giving us light and energy. At that time it will turn into a giant red star. The sun is the most important star in our universe and without it nothing and no one can survive.
