Values and Planning in Social Care
P1: Explain how application of relevant principles and values will enable professionals to provide holistic support of individuals who use social services
Promoting of rights & Choice
- You should give them choices on what they would like to do, what they want to wear and also what they want to eat. They all should have their own freedom of speech. You should not decide for them what they can wear today, what they can eat; you should also not neglect an individual when they are in your care. All staff should be aware of the individual rights of a service users and this will help to promote anti discriminatory practice. By always putting the service users’ needs first this will make sure that they will not receive any discrimination
- Moral beliefs and values
Respect of culture & religious beliefs:
- As a staff in an health and social care setting you should always find out more information about the service users, like what their beliefs are, culture and preferences to adjust their religious needs. You should not discriminate them because of their culture or they what they might believe in. staff should try and find out more about the service user’s beliefs to try and get a better understanding, this would help them promote anti discriminatory practice.
Anti- discriminatory practice
- To promote anti discriminatory practice if you have seen something that you did not think it was right you should speak to the person and let them know that you thought what they did was not right. If the behaviour still carriers on you should follow the right procedures and speak to the manager and they will then have to deal with them. Some people are known as whistle blowers and this means that if they don’t agree with the discriminatory practice them will go to the people who have more authority than the manager and even tell the newspapers about it.
