What is Hypertension?
Hypertension or High Blood Pressure is the pressure of the blood in circulatory system. It is the force in which the blood pushes against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps blood. Hypertension or high blood pressure happens when that force is too high. As blood pumps through the body it is under pressure, just like the water in the pipes of a house. Too much water pressure can cause damage to pipes and faucets this is just the same with the human body. High blood pressure can be caused by a number of things. The main cause is usually diet or what we eat. A diet that contains too much salt content and not enough potassium can increase blood pressure and also drinking too much alchohol can increase blood pressure. Other common causes for high blood pressure include family history, stress, and not excercising.
Hypertension and and Homeostatic Imbalance
The homeostatic imbalances that leads to hypertension are shock and potentially reactions to prescription medications. Weight, drinking, smoking and lack of excersie are also common attributes.
Internal and external factors also affect homeostasis of the human body which what causes hypertension. The organ system involved is the cardiovascular system.
The negative feedback system is one of the most important techniques for maintaining homeostasis.
The negative feedback system works to maintain a constant balance. If there is any type of disturbance the body will counteract the disturbance through negative feedback and attempt to return the body to its normal balance. At times there may be multiple negative feedback systems that can counter the changes of a specific disturbance.
