My Second Report in Sias University

This is my second report for my journey in China. After mid semester in Sias International University, it is quite hard to face all the events, presentation and final exams. The big event on May in homecoming day parade where we had to make a floating parade for our department. There are many departments in Sias, every department have to show the uniqueness from the car and costume depend on the themes. I joined with a international student union to think about a concept for the floating car theme. In international student union, i could know many chinese and international students to work together. It is a great experience, because i have a chance to know more how to face culture differences especially the language. We didn’t get some difficulties to work together and make this event successful. In every meeting, they usually used chinese language to have communication, but there are some of my friends are really kind to translate to me in english. i helped to find the theme for the floating car, and all the indonesian students joined this parade with using a traditional costume like kebaya. All the Indonesian women use kebaya and for the man use Javanese costume. We had to walk around Sias and show our creativeness in front of the founder and guests in front of International building. We had another event like drawing and calligraphy which is held by Indonesian student from Yogyakarta, the Ubaya students took participation to draw a pictures about our selves and Indonesia. In this event, we could show our cultures and the another countries are really appreciate it. I had tight schedule to prepare presentation to Leadership subject. I and Silvi who took the leadership subject have to be divided in the different group, we got some benefits from the group distribution because we can know more about our classmate. In the leadership class, we got some difficulties to know about our classmate because we can spend our time together and just meet in the class. We had to interview a leader and ask about his / her experiences to lead their employee and their leadership style. The interview is so useful for me to get more understanding about my subject because this is the directly application from all the theories in the book. I and my other three chinese friends would like to interview Vera Tanner, she is my lecture for Organizational Behavior subject but she is a leader for her own company too in America. I get many suggestions from her to combine two culture differences like China and Western in related for leadership. We had a week off to prepare the final exam for our chinese
